About the show

Beautiful Hong Kong 2.0 is an audio-visual feast weaving together music, dance, calligraphy, and imagery—Dr. Mui Kwong-chiu crafts original compositions that capture the unique coexistence of Hong Kong as an international metropolis and its natural landscapes. Music and scenery merge as one, from dawn-lit harbours to resplendent sunsets and the rustle of blossoms and birdsong, transforming sound and light into symphonic movements that reveal the dynamism and radiance of the Pearl of the Orient. Graceful dance, brush-and-ink verses, resonant recitations, and melodious strains converge on stage, penning a city poem in notes and unfolding a moving tableau of nature and humanity, inviting audiences to sketch their own "Beautiful Hong Kong" between melody and imagery. This cross-media Chinese-Western music theatre is presented by the Hong Kong Federation of Literary and Arts Associations (China Federation of Literary and Art Circles), with Dr. Mui Kwong-chiu serving as composer, librettist, and director, leading performers through an interplay of music, dance, calligraphy, and visuals to deliver an innovative production that fuses Eastern and Western elements while celebrating Hong Kong's natural and urban vistas. Whether you're drawn to cross-disciplinary art, relish Sino-Western musical fusion, or seek to rediscover Hong Kong's beauty through cultural experience, step into the theatre and immerse yourself in this luminous, ever-shifting urban symphony.
