About the show

Chinese Culture Festival 2026: Acrobatic Drama Acrobatic Spectacle of Ancient Tang by Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Acrobatic Troupe (中華文化節2026:新疆生產建設兵團雜技團──雜技劇《唐古百戲》) Step into the glorious Tang Dynasty, where music and dance reign supreme! "Baixi" (百戲) blends ritual music, folk songs from the Music Bureau, and Western Region dances, brimming with the colours of diverse ethnic cultures. The acrobatic drama *Acrobatic Spectacle of Ancient Tang* (《唐古百戲》) takes you on a journey a thousand years back, to witness Princess Wanchun (萬春公主), beloved daughter of Emperor Xuanzong, as she immerses herself in the elegant sounds of the konghou harp and graceful dance, studying under the famed master Xie Aman (謝阿蠻). Amid the Emperor's birthday celebration, join envoys from all nations in a spectacular showcase of classic feats: dancing with banner poles, spinning plates, kicking bowls from a high cart, and riding a bicycle atop an umbrella. Princess Wanchun and Yang Xu (楊朏), a foreign affairs official from the Sifang Hall, bond over their shared passion for the arts, become a couple, and establish a "Children's Art Class" to pass on the legacy of Chinese baixi. Presented by the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Acrobatic Troupe, this performance offers Hong Kong audiences a breathtaking acrobatic feast, suitable for ages 3 and up. The show runs approximately 2 hours, including a 15-minute intermission. This production is part of the Chinese Culture Festival 2026, co-organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Bauhinia Culture Group Limited, and belongs to the International Arts Carnival 2026 series. Renowned for their exquisite skills, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Acrobatic Troupe specially brings to Hong Kong this acrobatic drama blending Tang court elegance with Western Region flair.
