About the show
Ring in the Lunar New Year with the HK Phil at a joyous festive concert. World champion harmonica player Lee Chun-lok (李俊樂) gives the world premiere of "Realm of Emptiness" (空遊境界), a new HK Phil commission specially written for him by composer Ko Cheung-shing (高世章), offering audiences a first listen to Hong Kong's original charm. Conductor Qian Junping (錢駿平) also leads the orchestra through a string of Chinese classics and Hong Kong film music, interwoven with orchestral gems by Nicolai, Tan Dun (譚盾), and Enescu—from traditional flavours to modern rhythms, crafting a celebratory musical feast for the whole family. Presented by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, this "Rejoicing in the Chinese New Year" gala, led by conductor Qian Junping (錢駿平) alongside harmonica soloist Lee Chun-lok (李俊樂), welcomes the new year with a programme blending East and West. The orchestra, funded by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and a venue partner of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, delivers a grand-scale performance, offering festive blessings through classic orchestral and film music.
