About the show

Perhaps everyone has been an "outsider" at some point — excluded, wandering, lost between loneliness, regret, obsession, and the judgment of good and evil. Some push desperately toward the centre, while others seek a paradise beyond the edge. But on this journey of life, could there be a third choice? "The Outsider" invites you to reflect: when we can neither fit into the mainstream nor fully escape the margins, can we find our own middle path? This production, performed with full commitment by the graduates of the 9th Youth Theatre of SiuYin Drama Society (少言劇社), weaves personal inner struggles with the experience of social marginalisation, using delicate stage language to present the contradictions and stirrings between belonging and alienation. "The Outsider" is the graduation production of the Youth Theatre of SiuYin Drama Society (少言劇社), created and performed by a group of young people who have navigated the confusion of adolescence. Inspired by observations of loneliness in contemporary society, the script combines collective improvisation with written text, linking the life stories of different characters through a fragmented structure. The performance blends realism with symbolic elements, giving abstract emotions like loneliness, regret, and obsession concrete form through physical movement and spatial design. As these young actors prepare to bid farewell to the theatre troupe, they infuse the theme of "the outsider" with genuine and moving vitality, drawing on their own growth experiences.
