Plus Ultra (附負得正) is a stage work centred on life choices and self-growth, following a protagonist who, amid career, family, and inner conflicts, seeks balance between "gain" and "loss." Through a series of humorous yet satirical scenes, the story portrays modern struggles under pressure, ultimately conveying that "accepting imperfection is the true victory." The piece employs symbolic dialogue and physical movement, with a brisk pace, suited for audiences who enjoy reflecting on life's questions. Adapted from the spirit of the Spanish classic *Don Quixote*, the title "Plus Ultra" is Latin, meaning "further beyond," derived from the Spanish royal motto, symbolising transcending limits. The original author Cervantes' tale itself explores the clash between idealism and reality, and this stage version modernises that theme with contemporary social elements. The work has been performed at various European arts festivals to acclaim, and is now presented by local troupe "藝光製作" (Yik Gwong Productions), marking their first time bringing this adaptation to the Hong Kong stage.
