About the show

"We, this generation, seem to be all involuntarily trapped, each with a bitter story to tell..." Does anyone still keep a diary? Yes. A diary known as the "Wu Song Diary" (《武松日記》) circulates among the people, said to be written by a certain Ah Song, who is "both literary and martial" (也文也武), recording the minutiae of life from a unique perspective — he fights tigers, he swats flies, every page soaked in blood and sweat. Yet, he loses his job; he sells sesame cakes, witnessing life's absurdities. And yet, he still has dreams, poetry, and a distant desert. To live happily and freely, it turns out, all one needs is to find something you would unreservedly do and sacrifice for — as simple as making a sesame cake that your beloved loves to eat. "Wu Song Diary 2026" (《武松日記2026》) is a production by Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (香港話劇團), led by Poon Wai-sum (潘惠森) with a band of heroes — including principal performers Chan Kiu (陳嬌), To Chun-yiu (杜雋饒), Chan Kin-ho (陳健豪), Poon Tai-ming (潘泰銘), and Yu Hon-ting (余翰廷) — reinterpreting this walking diary as a new classic. The script premiered in 2017, winning Best Script and Outstanding Production of the Year at the 27th Hong Kong Drama Awards, and has been screened as a video recording in multiple cities since 2022. This new version features a fresh score by Chan Wai-fat (陳偉發), trapping the Liangshan heroes with no way forward or back, every word and punch weighted with rhythm, rereading on stage the bitterness and absurdity of each page of heroic valour.
