Xiao Xi is devastated when her school trip is cancelled — her face falls, her nose turns red, her eyes well up with tears. Mum and Grandpa decide to pull out all the stops, plotting a surprise "carefree journey" to banish her disappointment for good. Cantonese opera and Nanyin master Yuen Siu-fai (阮兆輝), renowned composer Ng Cheuk-yin (伍卓賢), and playwright Tsang Miu-suet (曾慕雪) join forces once again to craft a distinctive music theatre piece, complete with live instrumentation, that sings Tang poems in the Nanyin style. "Xiao Xi's Carefree Journey" is produced by One Table Two Chairs Charity Foundation (一桌兩椅慈善基金) and stars Yuen Siu-fai (阮兆輝), Tsang Miu-suet (曾慕雪), Wong Hei-man (王曦玟), and Cheung Cho-kiu (張楚翹). It is one of the programmes of the International Arts Carnival 2026 (國際綜藝合家歡2026) and the Chinese Culture Festival 2026 (中華文化節2026). Families of all ages, grandparents and grandchildren alike, are warmly invited to share in Xiao Xi's joys and sorrows, and embark on a Nanyin "carefree journey"!
