About the show
The fourth edition of the Wind-Thunder Dance Platform, "Map・Hover (地圖・懸)", is organised by Wind Over the Hills Dance Production (風臨山海舞蹈制作) and co-organised by Beijing LDTX Modern Dance Company (北京雷動天下現代舞團). It will take place in July 2026 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Theatre. This edition, themed "Blossoming on the Ground (落地開花)", focuses on Chinese modern dance troupes founded and developed between 2010 and 2025, presenting six works. Like driftwood in a river, the masses follow the currents of "good" and "right", donning the heavy armour of "identity" — we exhaust ourselves proving our existence to the world, yet lose the true map amidst red illusions. "Map (地圖)", choreographed by Mao Wei (毛維) and Wen Chuan (文川) and performed by Modance (末未舞蹈劇場), is a shattering of shackles: when heavy hammers break false positions, the soul sheds its shell like a cicada, returning to the origin of all things; since life itself has become the sea, why pick up a belated speck of dust? Another work, "Hover (懸)", choreographed by Zhu Jiguang (朱濟光) and performed by Shandong Modern Dance Company (山東現代舞團), uses personal bodily experience as a vehicle, deconstructing the fixed narrative of "nostalgia" to question the suspension of identity in urbanisation — in the eternal moment of floating, it achieves the most poetic possession of one's homeland, revealing the fluid fragmentation of identity through the interplay of bodily experiences and alternating sensations of weightlessness. The platform will present two works each day from 17 to 19 July. Additionally, a special programme, "Think of Me, Come See My Paintings! (想念我,就來看我我的畫吧!)", by guest choreographers Shi Xuan (施璇) and Zhou Niannian (周念念) of Xuan Nian Space (璇念空間), will premiere from 3 to 5 July. Performed by dancers including Wen Chuan (文川) and Zhu Jiguang (朱濟光), the works collectively showcase the symbiosis of art and the times, suitable for audiences interested in modern dance, identity reflection, and contemporary art.
