About the show

"Have you ever seen a ghost?" He only sees shadows of spectres outside the theatre. "Do you believe in gods?" He does not believe the stage is merely a place for mysticism. Zuni Icosahedron (進念.二十面體) Co-Artistic Director Danny Yung (榮念曾) has long been asking: if the theatre was once a space for communication between humans, ghosts, and gods, then what remains of it today? In ancient times, the "stage" (台) was originally a site for communion among humans, ghosts, and gods; ritual, as a collective act, carried people's understanding of the world and their responses to the unknown and to confusion. To this end, Zuni Icosahedron (進念.二十面體) and the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture have newly curated the "Gods' Assembly Festival (諸神會藝術節)" and the "Danny Yung Youth Arts Academy 2026 (榮念曾青年藝術學堂 2026)", using "Gods' Assembly" as a thread to revisit and contemplate the essence of theatre as a public space and spiritual realm. They invite audiences to enter the theatre, and through seven performances, post-show dialogues, and exchanges, to collectively experience the theatre as a place of gathering in the present. The festival blends installation, contemporary theatre, contemporary dance, Chinese opera, sound, video, and ritual, unveiling seven directors' cross-cultural live performances. Participating artists include Danny Yung (榮念曾) with "Records of the Ghosts 2026 (錄鬼簿 2026)" (moving from outdoor to traditional cross-dressing theatre, self-mocking artists as "ghosts", with the stage becoming an altar) and "Gods' Assembly 2026 (諸神會 2026)" (elevating artists to "gods"), alongside Park Ho-bin (朴豪彬), Rady Nget, Matsushima Makoto (松島誠), Yang Jun-feng (楊俊烽), Yan Ka-lok (任家樂), Xu Sijia (徐思佳), Xiao Xiangping (肖向平), and artists from Tokyo, Seoul, Phnom Penh, Beijing, Nanjing, Chongqing, and Hong Kong; Au Suet-yee (區雪兒) × Xie Shu (謝殊) with "Beyond the Frame (框外有邊)" questioning the boundaries of space and body; Steve Hui (許敖山) with "Judgment: Noise (審判:噪音)" exploring the te
