About the show

Adapted from the classic American comic strip *Little Orphan Annie*, this Broadway musical *Annie JR.* — spanning over half a century — features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and book by Thomas Meehan. Since its premiere in 1977, it has become one of the world's most iconic productions, known for its warm, heartfelt story and infectious music. The plot follows orphan Annie's journey of growth — set in New York during the Great Depression, she endures the harsh conditions of an orphanage yet always faces the world with optimism, kindness, and courage. By chance, she enters the life of wealthy businessman Oliver Warbucks and gradually transforms everyone around her. Through her innocent perspective, the story reveals the true meaning of family, love, and hope, reminding us that even in adversity, as long as we hold onto hope, a brighter tomorrow will come. Produced by the Scout Association of Hong Kong, this production of *Annie JR.* is specially presented to celebrate the 115th anniversary of Hong Kong Scouting. The musical features many beloved classic songs, including "Tomorrow," "It's the Hard-Knock Life," and "Maybe" — melodies that are bright and moving, showcasing the characters' genuine emotions and standing as timeless masterpieces in Broadway history. The show has won multiple Tony Awards and has been adapted into films and international tours, beloved by audiences across generations. Running approximately two hours, it is performed in English with Chinese and English subtitles.
