About the show
Composed of four short pieces linked by the imagery of water, *Watery Tears (水性漾起的淚花)* traces women as they flush red in the heat, drift in and out of focus in the mist, embrace themselves in warmth, and move freely through water. In *A Shared Lid for the Yuanyang Hot Pot (鴛鴦邊爐一個蓋)*, a mother discovers her daughter’s sex toy; the two confront each other over a bubbling hot pot in a cramped kitchen. In *The Girl with No Toes (沒有腳趾的女孩)*, a woman hides her secret from the world, growing insecure in love, until she submerges herself in a mountain hot spring and spies on others — their floating bodies bearing unimaginable traits. In *The Rain Cloud in the Bathroom (浴室的降雨雲)*, the bathroom becomes a greenhouse, nurturing countless plants that tightly encircle her solitary life. In *The Ghost Soaked in Amniotic Fluid (泡羊胎水的幽靈)*, a woman who was born lacking amniotic fluid becomes pregnant again; the fetus she lost in the past returns as a ghost, lingering in her womb, exchanging silent words with the new life. Written and directed by Cheung Ngan-wa (張雁華), and co-starring Chan Ka-yan (陳家恩) and dirtywork, *Watery Tears (水性漾起的淚花)* uses water as a thread running through these four vignettes, piecing together women’s ebb and flow through body, desire, intimacy, and loss. The performance has no assigned seating; the first two rows of the audience area are cushion seats, where audience members must sit on the floor and remove their shoes. It is recommended to wear socks and light clothing. The programme runs approximately 90 minutes and is suitable for ages 6 and above.
