Genesis Game Theatre returns in an upgraded form, with a century-defining battle that neither gods nor humans can predict unfolding — if the gods' blessings upon the earth are merely a harvest; if human civilisation is nothing but a gamble... beneath civilisation, desire knows no bounds. In this game of deceit and strategy, will you or I be the one laughing last? Cross-media creator Jing Wong (黃靖) and his team draw inspiration from ancient myths to design an unprecedented world-building game. "When the World is Against You" combines role-playing, war chess, interactive competition, and live performance, inviting audiences to cross the boundary between stage and audience and interact closely with the performance team. Choose between two identities: as a "human" building the world, you must vie for resources from the gods, waging war or cooperating to establish civilisation; as a "god" controlling the big picture, you can trigger world events, allocate resources, and manage mortals — with a newly designed programme in hand, you can rewrite humanity's fate. This production is co-presented and produced by West Kowloon Performing Arts and Drift Tribe @ Jing Wong Creations, and is part of the West Kowloon Creators Series. Following its premiere in March 2026 at the Studio Theatre of the Freedom Space, it moves to the Grand Theatre for a fully upgraded version. The enhanced format not only makes the competition more thrilling but also allows more audience members to take the lead in this unique theatrical experience. Key performers include Jing Wong (黃靖), Au Yan-chun (區昕進), Li Chung-ying (李忠穎), Cheung Lei-hung (張利雄), Yiu Ching-yu (姚程馭), and Jiang Ting (蔣婷).
