About the show
"Number one, number one — be number one in everything!" Are you ready to put on the "Think-For-You Device"? Studying in Hong Kong and Macau, who hasn't gone through the madness of exams and interviews? How much are you willing to sacrifice for a spot at a top school? When being "number one" becomes a religion, childhood starts to lose its voice — in a world woven with applause, rankings, interviews, and anxiety, one family gets swept into a feverish pursuit of success. Actuary mother Tam Ho Ka-fun (林兆霞) and overwhelmed counsellor father Tam Ching-yin (魏嘉信) form the "Ultimate Push" Tam family, stopping at nothing to get their kids into elite schools. The eldest child gets into a prestigious school as hoped, but suddenly loses their memory — and shockingly discovers that all their classmates are wearing a strange device called "Helping You, Helping You, Be Sensible Thinker" (short for "Think-For-You Device"). To skip the pain of learning and automatically become "number one," everyone gradually turns into soulless robots... When the younger sibling is also forced to wear the device, the eldest, now an "awakened one," decides to team up with friends to expose the mysterious Professor Ying's (Professor Ying) crazy brainwashing scheme! Until someone wakes up, they realise the scariest thing isn't losing — it's forgetting who you even are. Produced by the Hong Kong Children's Talent Academy, this original stage play is a suspenseful and darkly humorous family fable. Performed entirely in Cantonese by the troupe's students and actors, it turns the absurdity and pressure of modern education into a wild, fantastical adventure. Suitable for the whole family, it invites audiences to rethink the true meaning of "number one."
