"Where exactly is the outlying island?" — a question, a journey. Yat Po Singers' (一舖清唱) new a cappella project invites you to step into the outlying islands, using song to search for belonging. On the street corners of Mui Wo and the open-air theatre of Ngan Ho Garden, professional a cappella artists will perform classic and pop hits from home and abroad with pure vocal sounds, singing out the everyday scenery and human warmth of the islands. This is not just a concert, but a collective experiment in root-seeking — as the city's boundaries blur, we will redraw the map of belonging on the outlying islands together with our harmonies. Come experience, come play, come listen, and let the warmth of a cappella tell you: where exactly is the outlying island? The answer lies in the song. Presented by Yat Po Singers (一舖清唱) as part of the "18 Districts Arts – Outlying Islands Community Performing Arts Programme", the "Where Exactly Is the Outlying Island?" a cappella project will hold a workshop and mini-concert on 19 July 2025. The workshops, at 3pm and 3:30pm, will take place at Mui Wo Creative Lane and That Space respectively, allowing participants to try their hand at a cappella and beatboxing; at 4:30pm, the event moves to the open-air theatre of Mui Wo Ngan Ho Garden, where a free mini-concert will be performed by several professional a cappella artists. Using a cappella as a medium to connect community and music, this event is perfect for anyone curious about vocal art or looking to enjoy simple musical joy on an outlying island afternoon.
