In the Taisho era, detective novelist "I" encounters the enchanting Shizuko, and later receives a letter from her claiming she has been threatened. "I" investigates the case from a detective's perspective. Soon, Shizuko's husband is found naked in the river, and the truth is astonishing. Yaku-sha Theatre's new work, *Sumidagawa no Furosusha Tanteibo* (隅田川の浮浪者探偵簿), is an adaptation of Edogawa Rampo's masterpiece *The Demon Beast* (陰獸). Presented in a black box theatre as a one-person detective story, it challenges the limits of mystery and creation. Produced by Yaku-sha Theatre (役者和戲), following their award-winning 2022 work *Koyasan no Kanojo* (高野山の彼女), this piece marks another collaboration between the eccentric Chan Chi-wah (陳志樺) and Lam Pui-lim (林沛濂), winner of the IATC Actor of the Year and Artist of the Year (Drama) awards. Together, they bring to life this puzzle woven from Taisho romance and suspense.
