About the show

Do you have a story tucked away for too long, a relationship you can't quite sever, or an elusive question you can't name, yet don't know how to forge it into a living, breathing drama on stage? Playwriting isn't just about "writing what I want to say"—it's learning to step back and let "characters breathe, struggle, and make choices within their own defined time and space." This course sets aside theoretical formulas and returns to theatre's purest core: action and practice. Step by step, it transforms the thoughts and ideas in your mind into "stage events" that actors can perform and audiences can truly feel. Here, words are more than marks on paper—they are scenes observed with the heart. Organised by the 香港話劇團教育中心, the "2026 Drama Workshop—The Action and Undercurrent of Words: Eight Sessions on Stage Playwriting" is taught in Cantonese, with eight sessions dedicated to completing one play: "fifteen minutes, two characters, one space, one proposition." The course prioritises action over concept, using exercises to convert what the author wants to say—and leaves unsaid—into concrete "actions" taken by characters. It also delves into the verbal actions behind dialogue, exploring the different textures of language—"what is said, what is left unsaid, what cannot be said"—and the motivations driving human subtext. The eight-session learning path covers action, character, relationship, scene, dialogue, theatricality, structure, and development, culminating in the completion of your script and training in how to receive feedback and methodically revise your second draft. Suitable for aspiring playwrights or theatre makers aged 16 and above who wish to build solid dramatic thinking and script structure, participants with 80% attendance will receive a course completion certificate.
