The city's sun now lasts only thirty-two seconds each day. Fresh food is a memory from a bygone era; the manufacturing dates on frozen goods read three, five, ten years old. People wait in darkness, yearning for those thirty-two seconds of warmth, then pull their coats tighter and return to sub-zero temperatures. As daylight dwindles day by day, the only thing that might still pierce the gloom is the clumsy yet unyielding glow of human decency. In a world like this, how can people still love, still believe in tomorrow? "Remaining Days" thrusts us into a future slowly losing its warmth, yet asks the most urgent questions of the present. The United College Drama Society of The Chinese University of Hong Kong presents its 2026 annual production, starring Kwan Ho-chi (關浩志) and Law Yin-wai (羅妍慧). Set against an apocalyptic backdrop, it steers clear of cold, flashy technology, focusing instead on the warmth and connection between people under extreme circumstances. The society brings the original work's poetic desolation to the stage, letting audiences glimpse, within the frozen narrative, how those thirty-two seconds of sunlight seep into the cracks between human beings. This is a story about waiting, about perseverance, about those who, even when the world has dropped to freezing, choose to burn themselves to keep the light alive.
