Fusing dance with martial arts, and elevating martial arts into philosophy, this is a tribute to the legendary martial artist Bruce Lee! HSBC Insurance proudly presents the large-scale dance theatre "The Way of Martial Arts" — Bruce Lee's Method and Boundlessness, inspired by Bruce Lee's martial spirit and legendary life. Through dance, it traces his spiritual journey, from a passionate youth to an international superstar in Hollywood. This跨界 new work blends martial arts and dance, multimedia stage aesthetics, and jazz, and its 2025 premiere drew significant attention and acclaim, earning ten nominations at the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2026! "The Way of Martial Arts" will tour three mainland cities in August this year, and return to the Hong Kong stage in 2027. Hong Kong Dance Company's Artistic Director Yang Yuntao (楊雲濤) reunites with Hong Kong Film Awards Best Art Direction winner Man Nim-chung (文念中), renowned jazz composer Patrick Lui (雷柏熹), and a team of artistic elites to craft an upgraded version, enriching the visual design, choreography, and narrative layers to present Bruce Lee's cinematic world and martial spirit with greater depth and dimensionality. A troupe of professional dancers, steeped in years of martial arts training, employs elements like Jeet Kune Do, karate, and nunchaku, combined with Wing Chun's centerline theory and ink-wash imagery, to delicately interpret Bruce Lee's style of balancing hardness and softness, form and spirit, showcasing his philosophical pursuit of self-discovery and the "Way" of life, infused with artistic resonance. The Hong Kong premiere was selected for the National Arts Fund's 2025 "Large-Scale Stage Works and Productions" funding project. Amid the play of light and shadow, it etches the original aspiration of martial arts.
