About the show

In 1977, Andrew Lloyd Webber created the musical CATS based on T.S.艾略特's poetry collection. It premiered at the 新倫敦劇院 in London in 1981, and at the 冬園劇院 on Broadway in New York in 1982. At the annual Jellicle celebration, all the Jellicle cats gather together. On this special night, their wisest and most benevolent elder cat, 老戒律伯, selects one cat most deserving of rebirth into a new Jellicle life. The cats then take turns sharing their life experiences, hoping to be chosen as the one granted a new life. The performance runs approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission. The original production of CATS has been performed in 54 countries, translated into over 23 languages, and seen by more than 77 million people. The original creative team featured 約翰·奈皮爾（John Napier）as set designer, 吉莉安·林（Gillian Lynne）as choreographer, and 崔佛·南恩（Trevor Nunn）as director.
