About the show
In June 1944, the Allied forces landed in Normandy, while China's anti-fascist battlefield remained under severe pressure. First Lady Song Meiling (宋美齡), unwell and planning to travel to Brazil for medical treatment, discovered on the eve of her departure that a pair of precious diamond earrings had gone missing. She flew into a rage, cancelled her travel plans, and demanded a thorough investigation. After interrogating over 400 people inside and outside the residence, suspicion fell on four individuals who had stayed overnight at the mansion: her longtime personal maid Cai Ma (蔡媽), English secretary Jia Zhenzhu (賈珍珠), a mysterious man named Gu Peizong (谷沛宗) who entered the residence at night, and Gu Youzhi (顧悠之), a playboy drifting through Chongqing. Was it truly a theft of the earrings, or was there another scheme at play? As you piece together the clues, their hidden intentions are gradually revealed, leading to a shocking truth uncovered through meticulous deduction—but knowing too many secrets may not be a good thing. Immersive/roving suspense theater production *Song Meiling's Lost Earrings* (沉浸式懸疑話劇《宋美齡耳環丟了》) is adapted from a historical mystery by the theatre troupe. Audiences will be transported into a 1944 Chongqing residence, experiencing alongside the characters the interrogation and revelations surrounding the missing earrings. The performance uses tight, suspenseful storytelling to guide viewers through a labyrinth of power, secrets, and human nature.
