About the show

Grassroots yearn to put down roots, but sky-high property prices leave them nowhere to call home. Driven to desperation, a group of nobodies decides to go all out — daring to kidnap a property developer!? Will this motley crew, full of schemes but short on budget, succeed in their plan, or will they end up as just another bunch of miserable losers? "The Fools' Crusade (狼狽行動)", a brand-new original Cantonese musical produced by Hong Kong Vocal Society, uses absurdity to laugh at the struggles and predicaments of contemporary city dwellers. A special operation to fulfill the dream of owning a home is about to unfold, inviting the audience to witness a humorous yet touching ultimate rebellion. Adapted from the award-winning novel of the same name by Macau's renowned playwright Lei U-leong (李宇樑), this musical is crafted by an elite team: composer and music director Ko Sheung-che (高世章) and director Fong Chun-kit (方俊杰), who reunite after "The Impartial (大狀王)" and "The Musical of Youth (奮青樂與路)", using music to deliver memories and letting absurdity challenge justice, injecting laughter and warmth into this crazy plan to kidnap a property developer. The powerhouse cast includes Wong Ching-ching (黃靖程), Mak Pui-tung (麥沛東), Yau Chung-wai (邱頌偉), Leung Chung-hang (梁仲恆), Lai On-nei (黎安妮), and Fung Chi-yau (馮志佑), who together bring to life the misery and tears of this ragtag group.
