A three-hour workshop in copying, rebuilding, and playing — named after Robert Louis Stevenson's practice of teaching himself to write by imitating the masters. Participants copy a Shakespearean sonnet, a Basho haiku, and a Stevenson paragraph by hand, then rebuild each from memory and compare what changed. They watch and transcribe two scenes from a modern horror movie. In a live observation exercise — The Sitter — a performer reads aloud from Aldous Huxley while participants write what they see, then compare scenes across the room. The second half moves from page to feet: small groups read, unpack, rehearse, and perform a short original scene built around subtext and a buried subject. Participants keep the workshop booklet, which includes a full Story Craft reference appendix.
